About Us - Accreditation for Employment
AAAC advises Internationally Trained Professionals/Trades People on their accreditation processes leading them to employment, in one-on-one interviews or in small groups.
To choose the right accreditation process you must check whether licensing/certification/registration is needed in Canada to practice your occupation.
Regulated vs Non-regulated Professions
If licensing/certification/registration is mandatory for employment, your occupation/trade is considered regulated and is governed by a regulatory body, for example, a professional association. In such cases:
- Approach the relevant association to obtain Accreditation for Licensing/Certification
- Create a set of Accreditation Action Plan(s) to fulfill the requirements of the regulatory body
If licensing/certification/registration is not mandatory for employment, the profession/trade is considered non-regulated. The majority of Canadian occupations belong to this class. In cases of non-regulated professions:
- Reassess your Job Search and Work-Related Skills
- Create Accreditation Action Plan(s) that lead(s) you to successful employment
Requirements for Employment
Some employers look for education as a requirement for employment. It may not be easy for them to understand and recognize credentials obtained in another country. In this case you should also approach an Assessment Service for an Evaluation of Credentials.
For some non-regulated professions/trades, licensing is available. You should check whether employers regard registration or certification as a condition of employment. If yes, make an informed choice and go for Accreditation for Licensing/Certification/Registration to improve your chances of succeeding professionally.
